Bihar polls: Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt seeks votes for Congress

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who is canvassing support for the Congress in Bihar, today said he was confident of the party faring well in the assembly elections.

"I am confident that the party will fare well in the elections," Bhatt told reporters in Patna.

Agreeing with the views expressed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi about the state's backwardness, Bhatt said he also felt that the central funds for welfare schemes were not properly utilised.

"For ushering in a new era of development, people should strengthen the Congress whose core ideology alone can keep India safe and intact," he said.

He also expressed doubt over the secular credentials of chief minister Nitish Kumar saying "he is hand in glove with right wing fascist forces."
