Bihar CM Nitish Kumar flays petrol price increase

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar today flayed the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government for the petrol price hike by Rs5 and said that the measure will be a cascading effect on the prices of consumer goods much to discomfort of the common people.

Describing the latest petrol price hike by the state-owned petroleum companies as an 'opportunistic' step, he rapped the Centre for the fuel price increase taking place after the conclusion of the assembly polls in the five states.

"Matlab nikal gaya to pehchante nahin" (not acknowleding one once a purpose has been served), the chief minister said while rapping the Centre for the petrol price hike.

The Centre was waiting for the right opportunity to give its nod to the latest petrol price hike, he observed and said the prices of diesel and cooking gas too may be increased in due course of time.

The inflation and price rise will be spiral up further due to the petrol price hike and so will be transportation costs much to the woes of the common man, Kumar said.
