Bhanwari went missing from Jodhpur’s Bilara area on September 1. The state government sacked Mahipal Maderna as minister after he was named as a suspect in her abduction case.
The high-profile relations she had had are being now cited as the motive behind her abduction. “Bhanwari had high aspirations and apparently used her looks to befriend people in influential positions. She was well acquainted with at least three local politicians and few IAS officers,” a source said.
Ruling party MLA from Luni, Malkahan Singh, is also considered to have had relations with Bhanwari. His sister Indra Bishnoi was interrogated by the CBI after a tape of a telephonic conversation between her and the missing nurse was recovered.
Bhanwari’s ties with top politicians and officials are being considered as the source of her assets that are disproportionate to her known sources of income.
In the audio tapes, Bhanwari Devi is heard saying that she was in possession of evidence that might expose the ministers — she seems to have blackmailed them to a tune of Rs 7 crore. It was the blackmailing that apparently caused her abduction.
The investigating agency has also reportedly discovered evidence of property she owned in Ajmer and other cities. She had also toured Switzerland.
Even as the agencies confirmed that Bhanwari was abducted on September 1 and three accused already having been arrested, there has been no trace of her till now.
CBI officials also seems to have received various documents and recorded evidences during search at house of arrested accused Sohanlal and few other locations.
However the officials have denied having recovered any video clips that show Bhanwari Devi in a compromising position with Maderna and other politicians.
