Bank employee suspended after transaction from dead account

A bank employee has been suspended after he allegedly transferred Rs 5 lakh from a dead account to another account.

The incident took place at the State Bank of India branch on New Road, under Dalanwala police station.

An FIR has also been registered in the case.

According to police sources, the matter came to light when the account holder of the dead account came to the bank and enquired about his account.

The account holder had moved to Mumbai and later, in the absence of any transaction, his account was declared dead, police said.

The bank employee has not been arrested yet and investigation is on.
