A seven-year-old old minor girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified person in Devarajeevanhalli here, according to a top police official.

An unidentified person whisked the girl, who was playing in a street, to a remote place and allegedly raped her after promising her some chocolates last night, DCP (East) Krishna Bhat told reporters here.

The victim had come to her grandparents' house to celebrate New Year, he added.

After committing rape, the accused left the victim from where he picked her, Bhat said.

The minor did not reveal the incident to her father the same night, but the crime came to light when the she was taken to Dr Ambedkar Hospital after she complained of stomach ache, Bhat said. "The doctors confirmed of a rape case," he added.

Deverajeevanhalli police has filed an FIR and formed three teams to nab the culprit, Bhat said.

A 17-year-old mentally-challenged teenaged girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour at Machanayakanahalli in Bangalore, police said today.

The accused Prakash, a lorry driver, was arrested today morning after he allegedly raped the girl yesterday after taking her out of the house.

A case was registered after the victim's relatives lodged a complaint.

Incidents of rape have been reported in Karnataka over the past few days amid continuing national outrage against sexual attacks on women.
