Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, who took oath of office on Tuesday amid crisis over the leadership issue, is leaving for New Delhi on Thursday to hold talks with the party high command, a Congress MLA close to him has said.

"The chief minister will go to New Delhi to hold talks with the party high command," party MLA Subodh Unniyal, who is known to be a Bahuguna loyalist, said.

He said Bahuguna will visit 10, Janpath to meet party president Sonia Gandhi.

Bahuguna has claimed he will prove majority in the trust vote and his government will complete its five-year term in office.

"We have a majority in the House. All the 39 MLAs have given letter of support to the Governor. We will comfortably win the trust vote and provide a strong and effective government," Bahuguna said after taking oath on Tuesday.

The government will be facing the floor test during the session of the newly-elected Assembly convened on March 26.

Meanwhile, Shailendra Mohan Singhal, who was sworn-in as protem speaker, is likely to be the next speaker of the house, Unniyal said.
