Home Minister P Chidambaram Friday had a dig at BJP leader Arun Jaitley for his remarks that the heckling of Rahul Gandhi at the RML hospital in the wake of Delhi High Court blast was indicative of the government losing its credibility.

"I visited RML hospital shortly after 9pm. Nobody heckled me. But a large number of families came to me and poured out their grief and angst....that is expected... If I had been heckled, I would not have complained," he told reporters.

In a broadside at the BJP leader, Chidambaram said, "Mr Jaitely has been out of office for too long to know how people react in such a situation."

He said it is the right of people to express their angst and concerns to the public representatives and it was the duty of the public representatives to hear the affected people patiently and try to bring some comfort to them.

Earlier in the day, Jaitley said that revulsion among the people against the UPA Government was visible at the RML hospital where those injured in the Delhi High Court blast were admitted, claiming this was an indication of how it had "lost its credibility and its popularity was very low"
