ULFA 'chairman' Arabinda Rajkhowa's wife today said she would petition the government to allow her husband and other jailed members of the group to go home during the forthcoming Rongali Bihu festival.

"The government should allow not only my husband but also all other jailed ULFA members to go home during Bihu festivities," Kaberi Kachari Rajkonwar told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of her book of poems at the Guwahati Book Fair.

She said that her husband's ailing 96-year-old mother was eagerly waiting for his return to home at Lakwa in Sivasagar district.

"Of course, I'll be very happy if my husband is allowed to go home to see his mother but it will not be complete if other members are not released," she said.

She further said that the people of Assam wanted peace and a respectful negotiated political solution to their problems.

"All killings must stop and black laws be annulled. Talks should not be held just for the sake of holding talks but for a permanent and respectable solution of our problems," she said.

Her collection of poems was released by Jnanpith award winning litterateur Indira Goswami.
