Even as the dust is yet to settle on the booze party raided by the Ahmedabad rural police in Sanand, the Detection of Crime Branch, Ahmedabad city busted another booze party in the city.

They have also arrested 17 people, most of them either share-brokers or sons of stock traders. The crime branch seized around 50 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and several mobile phones and a television during the raid. The booze party was being held at the Jaltarang club in Vejalpur late in the evening on Sunday.

A team of crime branch officials nabbed all the accused from the club and they were under the influence of alcohol. The arrested were taken to Civil Hospital in the wee hours of Monday for medical test.  All the arrested are residents of posh localities of the city and are in the age group of 25 to 35 years.  DCB sent all the arrested to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital for a test to know about the presence of alcohol in their blood.

Of the seventeen arrested, eight are from Paldi, another eight from Vasna while one is a resident of Vastrapur. The police sources said that all of them belong to well-to-do-families and had met at the club to drink and enjoy the IPL-3 finals.

Assistant commissioner of police, DCB, Mayur Chavda told reporters that the DCB was given a tip-off about a group of people involved in satta betting at the club.

"However, when a raid was conducted we found that the youth were partying and drinking," he said. Chavda said that the party was organised by Malav Shah, owner of Jaltarang Club and he had brought the liquor from different sources.

However, the police are investigating as to how Shah managed to procure so much of liquor.
