Andhra Pradesh chief minister K Rosaiah hoped the Centre would distribute gas to states on a scientific basis in the light of the Supreme Court verdict in the Ambanis case.

"We welcome the Supreme Court verdict which upheld our contention that oil and gas are national resources. Andhra Pradesh was the first state in the country to make a strong case with the Centre that oil and gas are national resources and the driller should not be allowed to decide on their distribution and pricing," Rosaiah said today in reaction to the Supreme Court judgment in the RIL-RNRL case.

The chief minister hoped that the Centre would now ensure distribution of gas from the Krishna-Godavari basin to states on a scientific basis. "Since gas is being explored from our own backyard, we would like the Centre to give more gas to Andhra Pradesh,” Rosaiah added.
