As the results for the foundation, executive and professional programmes were announced by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), seven students from the city managed to grab ranks among the top 50 in the different categories, said an official.
Of these students, Megha Jain bagged the 6th rank in India in the final CS exam known as the professional programme. Other students who shone at the national level include Neha Purswamy rank 12th in foundation programme, Ankit Agarwal at 11th, Harsh Patadia at 16th, Twinkle Logar at 18th, Dipam Patel at 20th and Shaily Agrawal who ranked 24th in the executive programme.
According to the Ahmedabad chapter of ISCI, around 2,651 students from the city had appeared for the CS exams in November. Of them, 628 students appeared in the foundation, 1,402 in the executive and 621 in professional programmes, respectively. Member of the central examination council, Umesh Ved said, around 299 students passed the foundation examination, 656 passed the executive and 376 students passed the professional programme from the Ahmedabad centre.
According to this data, the passing percentage from the city comes to 47.61% in the foundation, 47% in the executive and 61% in professional programmes, respectively.
Speaking to DNA, Megha Jain said that she did not opt for any coaching classes and studied on her own.
"I had set targets for each day to complete a certain portion of the syllabus. I used to tally in the evenings whether I could meet the set target and worked hard towards achieving it. I used to study for at least eight hours a day," she added.
