While Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's three-day fast at the city's GMDC ground garnered much appreciation, those who were not happy were the common people who wanted to complain about their woes but couldn't due to the absence of civic officials.

Officials of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) were on duty at the venue to support Modi and oversee the arrangements. But the fast led to inconvenience for hundreds of deprived citizens who went to the main office of the corporation building with their complaints, only to find that the cabins very vacant.

Because of the fasts by the chief minister and Congress they will have to visit the corporation again to meet the concerned authorities. The deputy municipal commissioners of the AMC, the mayor, hundreds of corporators of both the parties were all found at the GMDC ground and Gandhi Ashram, making the corporation building a deserted place.

Citizens in hundreds visited the corporation building on the working days of Saturday and Monday. They came across peons who told them the officials were away. The citizens had come with problems like solid waste management, bumpy roads and water issues.

Many of the citizens who had come from far-off areas were very  disappointed as they will have to come again on Tuesday.

Speaking to DNA, one of the citizens from Bapunagar said, "Had I known that no corporator would be available on Monday, I wouldn't have gathered the documents in a hurry and would have brought them on Tuesday."

The office of the leader of Opposition Badruddin Sheikh too wore a deserted look. A group of women who had come to present their woes to the Congress members also faced the same disappointment.
