Health officers of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) raided various food joints to check its quality. The officers of the civic body raided several eating outlets, food stalls and sweet shops so as to ensure that spurious and adulterated products were not being sold.

The officials began their raid from Bapunagar area and inspected various food joints. In all, the officials raided around 20 food stalls in Bapunagar including fast food stalls, ice cream/kulfi stalls etc.
Talking about the raid, in-charge public health supervisor, K Ravindran said, "We wanted to check the quality of the food products used and also look for any sort of adulteration. As most of these food stalls begin their business in the evening extending upto late night, we thought of inspecting these food stalls at night."

The officials seized and destroyed around 25 kg of materials ranging from raw materials used by bhaaji-pav, dabeli and pani-puri vendors. "We destroyed all the unhygienic food stuff of the vendors. Inspite of raiding sweet marts, we didn't find any adulterated food," stated Ravindran. Some of these samples were also sent to the laboratory for testing.
