Ambulance set on fire by mob in West Bengal

A mob set an empty ambulance on fire after it ran over a school student at Chandmari in Nadia district today, police said.

Suman Ray, a class VIII student of Chandmari Despriya Sikshayatan was returning to his home at Bela Mitra Nagar in Kalyani on his bicycle when the ambulance ran over him, police said.

A mob gathered on the spot and set the ambulance on fire but the driver managed to escape, they said.

The injured boy was first rushed to Kalyani JNM and from there referred to NRS Hospital in Kolkata.
