Ambala explosive haul meant for terror strikes in Punjab?

After recovering explosives outside Ambala railway station, security agencies are now investigating whether it was meant for carrying out terror strikes in Punjab.

A senior Delhi police officer said the recovered explosives could also be meant for Punjab though he did not rule out its use in the capital.

A joint team of Delhi and Haryana police found the explosives in a blue Indica car parked outside the railway station on an intelligence tip-off 10 days ago that a consignment carrying the substance was headed to a north Indian metropolis.

Police is yet to arrest a single person in connection with the incident.

Delhi Police yesterday said that Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) had joined hands to plot a terror strike in the national capital ahead of Diwali following the recovery of the explosive-laden car.

The seizure of the car in Ambala last evening came following a trail of inputs provided by central intelligence agencies that a car was headed to Delhi via Ambala with explosives and detonators.

"We had inputs that an LeT module active in Jammu and Kashmir was planning to strike in Delhi. Investigations were done and found that the explosives were meant for BKI and to be used in Delhi. We received a specific input yesterday about the movement," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Arun Kampani has said.
