According to cops, Sanjay Banker, 25, a resident of Amraiwadi, and his accomplice Kiran Amin, 21, a resident of Jantanagar, Ramol were allegedly caught robbing an office at Pariseema complex in Navrangpura.
"At around 8 pm on Monday, Banker and Amin allegedly broke into an office located on the eighth floor of the building but found nothing. They then forced open the main gate of an adjoining office and went inside but by then, some security guards were alerted.
The watchmen immediately closed the main entrance of the building and informed us," said a Navrangpura police official.
Police said that one of the accused reportedly descended from the building using the drainage pipes. However, after getting down, instead of running away, he exclaimed that his friend was locked from outside and waited till he came out. By that time, police arrived and caught the duo.
Soon after the arrest, the police interrogated the duo and said that they were involved in atleast 19 cases of theft in Navrangpura, Ellisbridge, Gujarat University and Ghatlodia areas of the city.
Police also claimed that they recovered 12 laptops, 12 CPUs and 40 LCD monitors from the duo. The police have also arrested one Jayesh Jethabhai from Amraiwadi to whom Banker and Amin used to pass on the stolen valuables.
