Air Asia X, the long-haul low fare Malaysian carrier, will launch its Delhi-Kuala Lumpur daily direct flight in August with an offer of 1,000 free tickets.

"Air Asia X would be launching its daily direct flight to Delhi, the second destination in the country after Mumbai, from August 4," Azran OsmanRani, CEO of AirAsia X told reporters here today.

The airline would give 1,000 free seats for those who book online for travel to Kuala Lumpur between August 4 to August 31, he said, adding the offer would be available for just one day - June 5 - for Kuala Lumpur-Delhi sector.

A traveller, who gets a free ticket, will have to pay just Rs 1,862 as airport charges and there is no hidden cost, he said.

AirAsia, established in 2001 with the dream of making flying possible for everyone, has a vast route network covering over 20 countries.

"The daily service between Kuala Lumpur and Delhi will add significant thrust to the existing traffic between the two cities and provide great options for travellers looking for that quick weekend getaway," Osman-Rani said.

Focusing on the low-cost, long-haul segment, AirAsia X was established in 2007 to facilitate point-to-point travel.

"AirAsia X's cost efficiencies have been derived from maintaining a simple aircraft fleet and a route network based on low-cost airports, without complex code-sharing and other legacy overheads that weigh down traditional airlines without compromising on safety," he said.

The attributed the success of the low cost carrier to high aircraft utilisation, brand new aircraft, streamlined operations and point-to-point network.
