Asin Pathan was nabbed in connection with a loot complaint but soon confessed to gory method of killing which he used on six people,leaving police shell shocked.
Ahmedabad police on Friday came face-to-face with Ahmedabad's own Jack The Ripper.
The only difference was, unlike the ripper who mostly targeted prostitutes, this man targeted anybody who could get him some money to pander his drug habit.
It was only when the man was questioned in connection with a loot complaint that the police came to know of his alleged psycho credentials - six murders over two years.
He then proceeded to tell the police of all his victims, one of whom was his beloved.
He also led them to the body of a man he had killed some days ago but which had been lying around Sabarmati undiscovered. The killing spree left the police officials in a shock.
Most of his victims, who were autorickshaw drivers, beggars, passersby and eunuchs, were stoned, thrashed and beaten to death. All of them ended up in and around the Sabarmati.
Asin Pathan, alias 'Sendo' alias Lambu allegedly confessed to killing six people in a span of two years. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Himanshu Shukla said that his men were on the trail of a man who was wanted in a loot case.
"We apprehended him on the basis of a suspicion after he was found driving an auto that was reported to be missing. We found on him a driving license belonging to Yashwant Chauhan, 48," said Shukla.
He said that it was during interrogation that Pathan confessed to murdering six people.
"His latest victim was the auto driver Chauhan, who was killed four days ago. Chauhan was hit with a stone and strangulated. His body was dumped near Vasna barrage," said Shukla.
According to police, Pathan had been in jail for almost one-and-a-half years for the alleged murder of one Ashok Bihari Batka.
He was later released after being found innocent. Cops said Pathan, a drug addict, mostly killed people to get money to finance his drug habit.

The alleged serial killer did not even spare the woman he loved. He put her to sleep after she went with another man as he earned more than the alleged killer.
According to police, around a year ago Pathan allegedly murdered Reshma aka Asha, whom he had been living with for some time.
Pathan was angry after Reshma left him for another man named Salim. He reportedly told cops that Reshma had earlier left Salim to be with him. But soon she began living with Salim again as he earned more than Pathan.
Officials said Pathan couldn't stand being dumped so he killed her while they were in the middle of Sabarmati river.
Police said Pathan took Reshma on a ride on a raft made from plastic and other such things. There he thrashed her and when she fell unconscious he threw her in the river. Half an hour later he waited for Reshma's body to surface. He then wrapped her in a piece of cloth and again dumped the body in the river, police said.
They said he even called up 108 and informed them of a dead body floating in the river.
