The condition of the youngster who tested positive for swine flu showed further signs of improvement and he was even taken off the ventilator for some time.

“He is still on the ventilator but was taken off it for some time. His condition is improving and he is likely to recover,” said a district health offcial.

Ghanshyam Thakor (25), a resident of Rampura locality in Bakrol village of Anand district, was found to be suffering from H1N1 infection on Monday.

Dr Paresh Dave, additional director, health, said no new cases of influenza H1N1 were reported.

Thakor had initially taken treatment at the primary health centre in Bakrol.

“The medical officer there gave him medicines as he complained of cough and cold,” said the official.

He added that after his condition failed to improve, Thakor went to a private hospital run by Dr Samir Patel on March 22.

The doctor suspected it to be a case of H1N1 and informed the health officials. Later it was confirmed that Thakor was suffering from swine flu.
