We are talking about a couple who came in a fancy sedan car, got the vehicle’s tank filled to the brim with petrol and drove off without paying for the fuel.
They left behind a stunned attendant and a fuming manager at a petrol pump in Chandkheda. The incident happened on Sunday midnight.
The couple escaped with 68 litre of petrol in their car.
Hours after the incident the police are still clueless about the couple as their car number is believed to be a fake one.
An attendant of the Visat Petrol Pump where the incident happened has lodged a case with the Chandkheda police. He stated in the FIR that at 12:30 am on Sunday a young couple landed at the petrol pump with their Honda Accord car.
"The man who was driving the car asked for 68 litre of petrol worth Rs4,650. Once the car was filled the woman sitting beside the driver pretended to take out the money from her purse. However, instead of handing over the money, the car zoomed off at top speed. We ran after the car but failed to stop them," Pathan stated in the FIR.
Pathan said the car number was GJ 1 KB 2585 and there were two people in the car. On Monday when the police lodged an FIR and started investigation with the RTO to know about the car owner they realised that the car number was a fake one.
Chandkheda police inspector KC Rathod said he checked with the RTO but the car's owner has so far not been traced as the number is a forged one. He said that investigation is on in the case.
Police believe that said this is one of the strangest cheating cases they have lodged in recent times. They believe that the couple might have duped others too in a similar manner but no one bothered to file a complaint.
