The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has extended its 'edutaining' (educate+entertain) concept and tied up with dairy giants Amul and Havmor for its scheme in Kids City.
Want to know how an ice-cream factory works? And how chocolates are made? Now, you don't need to travel all the way to Anand to learn the ice-cream and chocolate manufacturing process. All you will have to do is to visit Kids City at the Kankaria Lake entertainment complex.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has extended its 'edutaining' (educate+entertain) concept and tied up with dairy giants Amul and Havmor for its scheme in Kids City so that children can also understand how their favourite delicacies - ice cream and chocolates -- are made before they are packed in fancy containers to tickle their taste buds.
MS Patel, deputy municipal commissioner of South Zone, where Kankaria Lake is situated, said that they met with officials of the two companies and decided to set up 'mini factories' where visitors would get to understand the technicalities of ice-cream and chocolate making.
Patel said that they would provide space for the proposed factories but the companies will have to spend the money to build and house the equipment for the factories.
The idea of Kids City was mooted to develop a space for children where they can learn different kinds of operations and have fun too. Kids City would be spread over 4800 square metres.
Under the project -- originally derived from Jakarta's Kidzania - the City will house replicas of 17 elements of our daily life like banks, radio station, fire and emergency services, airport etc.
But denizens will have to wait till the municipal elections get over to be able to visit Kids City. "We will have to train around 26 people to take care of the Kids City's 17 sections. It will require some time to do that and so we have decided to inaugurate the City only after the municipal elections," said Patel.
