Ahmedabad's 52 car accessories shops sealed for flouting health norms

The small and medium car accessories shops situated in Mithakhali got a rude shock on Monday morning when the health and estate officials of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) knocked at their doors. The civic body sealed 52 shops of car accessories dealers in the area on Monday.

These shops were violating health norms and littering the roads with packaging material. “They used to also burn the boxes on the road. They were warned several times to mend their ways," said an AMC health officer.

Manish Master, assistant town development officer (west) said, “They used to operate on the road itself and had encroached a major part it. We had served notices to them to remove the encroachments, but they did not budge." Master further stated that a campaign was conducted last week along with police inspector SB Trivedi and the shop owners were informed that their business was causing lot of traffic issues. During the campaign, the shop owners were fined for encroaching on the road and were asked to remove the encroachments.

"But they did not stop their operations on the road, due to which we sealed all these shops on Monday morning," added Master.
