Floats tender to lay Kota stone in Shantinath ni Pol - on Heritage Walk route as part of a pilot project.
You will have a smooth walk the next time you take a sneak-peek at the heritage of the city through its famous Heritage Walk in the Walled City.
For, green Kota stone paved paths near the Shantinath ni Pol in Kalupur will ensure that you have a trouble-free walk.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is making an effort to give a different look to the Heritage Walk route.
As part of the plan, the AMC has floated a tender to invite bids to lay Kota stone in around 100 square metre area in Shantinath ni Pol in Kalupur.
Rs1.10 lakh will be spent on the same. The stretch is expected to be ready within three months once the work starts.
"The plan is to use different coloured Kota stones on the heritage walk route so that everyone can recognize it. The move will differentiate the route and even make people more aware of the walk," said a senior AMC official.
Once the project in Shantinath ni Pol is completed, citizen's feedback will be taken. The feedback will be used in implementing similar measures on other parts of the Heritage Walk.
"It is proposed that Heritage Walk route which passes through heavy traffic areas will not be included in the plan as the traffic may damage the Kota stone," added the official.
The Heritage Walk begins from the picturesque Swaminarayan Mandir in Kalupur and ends in the most glorious architectural legacies -the Jumma Masjid.
In between it covers numerous pols, havelis, ornamental facades, workplaces of artisans and number of magnificent Hindu and Jain temples. The walk proceeds from Kavi Dalpatram Chowk - which housed the great 19th century Gujarati poet - in Lambeshwar ni Pol, to the Calico Dome to the century old Kala Ramji Mandir in the Haja Patel ni Pole.
