A man was reportedly kidnapped for Rs10 crore, and released in the city on Thursday after several hours. The case was lodged with the Gujarat University police who said the incident was investigated so as to recover the money. One of the alleged abductors has already been named in a kidnapping case.

According to SJ Vaghasia, police inspector with GU police station, the victim Dinesh B Hira, resident of Krishnat Residency on Judges Bungalow, was kidnapped from Vijay Crossroads on Wednesday afternoon. Vaghasia said one of Hira's old business partners wanted to recover Rs10 crore from him, which is why Hira was kidnapped.

Hira has accused Anil Gupta, resident of Sangath, Motera Stadium Road, Jasmin Kothari, resident of Bhavnagar, Vipul Gadhvi, Bhavnagar and an unknown person aged 40 years of kidnapping him. Hira said the accused forced him into a car and, after threatening him, asked him to pay Rs10 crore.

Cops said the reason behind the kidnapping was an old business deal in which Hira had to pay Rs10 crore. Police said that Hira and Gupta had ventured into the business of share trading some three years back. But the business failed and the friends turned enemies.
