The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of the district police on Thursday continued their investigation into the intrusion at Nirma group promoter Karsanbhai Patel's residence. Cops were baffled as burglary doesn't look like a motive behind the incident.

Early on Wednesday, four youths in their 20s had come looking for one 'Ashok Savant', who does not live near the Nima bungalow premises. Police are yet to ascertain the identity of the intruders.

Cops, who are still trying to identity this mystery man, are now going to question owners of all farmhouses and residences located on and near SG Road, to confirm whether Savant actually exists. The LCB also took Karsanbhai Patel's statement with regards to the intrusion incident. Patel confirmed that he is neither related to nor knows anybody by that name, police said.

Meanwhile, police are also trying to ascertain the identities of intruders by questioning the guards at Patel's residence. Four guards, who were present at that time, are the only people who have seen the youths. Police will show them pictures of known criminals of the district to see if they can identify anyone. The incident took place in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Four youths scaled the wall of the Nima bungalow compound and were confronted by security guards. They then claimed to be from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and were looking for one Ashok Savant. When they were told that no such person resides there, they hit and tied up the guards before fleeing.
