Ahmedabad feels the heat at 38 degrees

Met dept has predicted mercury to rise to 39 degree C today and 40 degree C on Monday.

The summer season is well and truly here. The mercury levels, which have risen in the last few days, are set to rise further and touch 40 degree Celsius on Monday, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD said that day temperatures rose over the region. On Saturday, the maximum temperature recorded in Ahmedabad was 38.4 degree Celsius, a departure of 1 degree from normal. The minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 16.3 degree Celsius, a departure of - 4 degree Celsius from normal.

According to IMD's forecast, the maximum temperature in the city would touch 39 degree Celsius on Sunday and rise to 40 degree Celsius on Monday for the first time in the current summer season.

While the day temperatures are soaring, the weather during night time would remain pleasant. The minimum temperature in the city over the next two days is forecast at 16 and 17 degree Celsius respectively. IMD has forecast that temperature will also rise in other places in the state such as Surat, Kutch, Vadodara, Saurashtra, among others over the next two days.

"The weather will be sunny in all parts of Gujarat, as well as Diu, Daman, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli," IMD said.
