During primary investigation, Satellite police learnt that all were last seen by Bachu Vaghela, sweeper of Amaltas Apartment.
Vaghela told the cops that he saw Thakkar, his wife Varsha and son Tej on December 28 as they left the apartment in the morning.
The three mobile phones which they were carrying are reportedly switched off. This has left the cops in a quandary.
Rajubhai Thakkar, 47, owner of Gopi Dining Hall and Balaram Palace resort has disappeared with his family after leaving a note on December 28. In the note, Thakkar states that he is going away due to financial crisis. His brother Dilip Thakkar filed an application at Satellite police station about his missing brother.
Dilip Thakkar informed the police that his younger brother Rajubhai lives with his wife Varsha at Amaltas flats near Fun Republic. Their elder son Yash is pursuing MBA at Pune, while younger son Tej, 18, is doing a Hotel Management course in Goa. Tej came to Ahmedabad a few days ago from Goa after he finished his exams.
Dilip approached the Satellite police after failing to find them and filed an application on Saturday.
Police have now zeroed in on the investigation into Rajubhai's call list of his mobile phone, as he mentioned about financial crisis in his note. Police are investigating whether any of the listed numbers in his phone's call list could have been used to threaten Thakkar for recovering money, which he might have borrowed to ease his financial burden. The police have asked the mobile phone operator to provide call details of Thakkar.
