Around 500 candidates from National Cadet Corps and Rapid Action Force participated in awareness and rescue activities organized by the city.

It was a memorable day for all the National Cadet Corps (NCC) candidates as information and awareness activities on rescue activities were organized across the city to celebrate the International day for Natural Disaster Reduction on Wednesday.
Organized jointly by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), Ahmedabad fire and Emergency Services (AFES) and Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority, the event saw participation of around 500 candidates of NCC and Rapid Action Force.
Programs like awareness generation activities and search and rescue activities were organized for NCC candidates and the team of Rapid Action force (RAF) in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The candidates were given training in the rescue operations. Also, around 150 equipment used during rescue operations were put on exhibition for the candidates and a live demonstration of the products was also conducted for the candidates.
Sharing more details about the event, Station officer at AFES, MP Mistry said, "Around 500 candidates were given training under the guidance of chief Fire Officer MS Dastur and station officer JN Khadia. Also, the sub officers of National Fire Service College, Nagpur were present to get training in the rescue operations. We trained the candidates in several aspects and situations like rope rescue, tunnel rescue, and how to rescue people when the building collapses."
