Agatha Sangma defends pay hike for MPs

Union minister of state for rural development Agatha Sangma today defended the pay hike given to MPS, saying it has been done after ten years.

The inflation was also taken into account while deciding the hike, she told reporters after inaugurating a Mahithi Kendra (Information Centre) in Chitradurga.

The government will take steps to provide fluoride free drinking water in parts of Chitradurga where the content of the hazardous chemical was higher.

The issue has come to government's knowledge and it would initiate measures to ensure that people get good drinking water, she said.

Several hamlets where SCs and STs live in the state did not have potable drinking water supply,the minister alleged.
