On September 5, 2009, Dinesh Patel, a clerk with HK BBA College, committed suicide alleging widespread corruption in the college.

Before ending his life, Patel sent a message to college peon Ashok Vaghela to collect documentary evidence against the college trustees and principal from his house.

Vaghela collected the incriminating evidence, which was in the form of a diary and tape, and handed them over to the police. He also shared the evidence with the media.

According to Vaghela, he is now facing the consequences of siding with truth, and alleges harassment by college authorities. He alleges that he is paying the price for exposing the culprits responsible for the death of the honest clerk.

Vaghela said his stand hasn't gone well with the management of the Brahmchari Wadi Trust, which runs HK BBA College at Ashram Road.

"After the incident, I have been threatened by Shilpa Shah, the college's director, for speaking against the trust" alleged Vaghela, who was suspended by the college five months back.
Vaghela claimed that though he was eligible to get Rs5,500 per month from the college following his suspension, he was getting only Rs1,500.

He accused the college management of traumatising and harassing him after Patel's death.

"I had received 2 certificates in recognition of my dedication towards work before the suicide episode. Post-it, they have served me 15 notices, citing minor faults like talking on phone" said Vaghela, who lives with his wife, two daughters and a sister, near HK college hostel at Victoria garden. However, Shilpa Shah rubbished the allegations.

"The two certificates he received were just experience certificates. He has been served notices even before Dinesh Patel's death" Shah said. She added that Vaghela was sacked due to lack of dedication at work and taking leaves without prior permission.
Vaghela claimed that Gujarat University's Service Tribunal has directed the college management to pay him full salary till the case is under hearing. However, trustees of the college denied receiving any such order from the tribunal. He alleged that trustees Ambalal Patel and Amrish Shah were after him because he had learnt of the corruption in the college.

Ambalal Patel, secretary and trustee of the institute, also denied Vaghela's charges.

"Instead of doing his work, he used to argue with everyone, and that was the main reason that led to his sacking. The issue of Dinesh Patel's death has nothing to do with it," said Ambalal Patel.
