Taking a break from their political duties, Gujarat state ministers and BJP MLAs tried their hand at some adventure sports on Tuesday at the Sabarmati Riverfront. A presentation on the Sabarmati Riverfront Project was scheduled in the presence of veteran BJP leader LK Advani and the chief minister Narendra Modi, but the wait for the VVIPs was not boring for the ministers and MLAs.
State cabinet and state level ministers including Vajubhai Vala, Narottam Patel, Anandiben Patel, Nitin Patel, Dileep Sanghani, Fakirbhai Vaghela, Ramanlal Vora, Saurabh Patel, Jaysinh Chauhan and several MLAs were present at the Riverfront.
The ministers and MLAs made a short visit to the Swarnim Gujarat theme pavilion and soon after that, went to the river bank to enjoy power boating in the Sabarmati along with their families. While some of them had fun in the water, Anandiben Patel did not venture into a boat.
State urban development minister Nitin Patel played the role of host and gave a guided tour to all the members. He took them for a drive on the riverfront and after that escorted them to the adventure sports pavilion.
While the ministers and MLAs were savouring the atmosphere and cracking jokes, bureaucrats were busy ensuring their smooth arrangements. When the group reached the Zorbing Ball, some elder leaders like Vajubhai Vala, Ramanlal Vora and Parbat Patel teased one another around the sphere. Inspired by this, Kanti Amrutiya, MLA Morbi, and Harshad Vasava, MLA from Rajpipala and parliamentary secretary, got into the ball and enjoyed it twice. While they were inside it, Vala, in his typical style, commented in a lighter tone that the ball should be thrown into the Sabarmati. Someone then commented, why the Sabarmati, both should be thrown into the sea till the next elections!
When the group received the message that Advani had landed at the airport and would reach the place soon with the CM, they returned to the presentation dome and it was business as usual.
