Buoyed by Gandhian Anna Hazare's crusade against corruption, the CPI(ML) today demanded that Jharkhand government should immediately act on reports given by vigilance and other committees which probed various corruption issues in the state without any delay.

"There have been reports submitted by the vigilance bureau like 'irregularities' in conducting examination of the first Jharkhand Public Service Commission, appointment of lecturers and junior engineers," CPI (ML-Liberation) general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya and party MLA Vinod Singh told a news conference here.

"Now the Arjun Munda government should act on those reports against corruption in the state, particularly after the entire nation voiced against corruption by way of supporting Anna Hazare's fast-unto-death and the subsequent agreement by the Centre for setting up a committee to draft a Lokpal Bill," they added.

Criticising police firing in Islam Nagar here on April 5, they alleged, "since the creation of the state on November 15, 2000 there were several incidents of police firing, yet governments are not addressing displacement problems through effective rehabilitation packages".

One person had been killed and nine were others injured in the April 5 firing incident which took place during the anti-encroachment drive by the district administration in Islam Nagar in Ranchi.

The party, the Left leaders said, had chalked out action plans to protest the state government's "anti-people" policies.
