Two members of a family were today shot dead and three others injured by a father-daughter duo, accused of incest by their neighbour, in Kotwali area here, a senior police officer said.

Haseemuddin and his brother Rashid were shot dead by their neighbours Akhtar and Fatima in Kambor village, about 350km from Lucknow, superintendent of police Raj Kumar said. Shaheen, who is Haseemuddin's daughter, Sukhe and Shafeeq, injured in the firing, were taken to district hospital, where their condition was stated to be stable.

Kumar said Akhtar and his daughter were having dispute with Haseemuddin as the latter had earlier alleged that the father-daughter duo was having an illicit relationship. "During investigation it was revealed that a village panchayat was held in this regard nearly a month back, which cleared Akhtar and Fatima of the charges," he said.

Kumar said enraged over the accusation against them, Akhtar and Fatima allegedly opened fire in which Haseemuddin and his brother died on the spot. "Akhtar and Fatima are absconding after the incident and efforts are on to nab them," he added.
