The alleged kidnappers Shivpal Yadav and his cousin Sushil Yadav, were caught respectively from Delhi and Kanpur yesterday, police said.

Shivpal's brother-in-law Ravinder alias Raghuvender, who was also alleged to be involved in the kidnapping, is still absconding, police said. The victim, who is son of a driver Sita Ram, was rescued from the residence of Sushil at Rohatapur village in Kanpur, police said.

The alleged kidnappers were demanding Rs2.5 lakh as ransom from the victim's father using mobile phones from UP West and UP East for the safe release of the child, police said.

During interrogation Shivpal, a resident of Vishwas Nagar in Khlaincha village of Kanpur, confessed that he had abducted the child from Jhilmil Colony on November 15 as he was in "dire need of money", police claimed.

Shivpal disclosed that after kidnapping the child, he took him to Uttar Pradesh and handed him over to Ravinder at his native Buchhpur village in Auraiya district, police said.
