SG Road is now 2nd biggest earner of revenue from hoardings for civic body.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) expects to earn a whopping Rs7.5 crore from hoardings on the 10-km-stretch of Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway between Sanand Chowkdi and Vaishnodevi temple.
The civic body plans to have 80 hoardings at different places on this stretch. It has floated tenders for the hoardings for which the base price has been fixed at Rs7.5 crore. Incidentally, despite such a huge amount being fixed as the base price for hoardings on the SG Highway, it is the CG Road which is still the biggest earner of revenue from hoardings for the AMC.
The civic body plans to put up attractive colourful hoardings at various locations soon on the chosen stretch of the SG highway. Parts of the stretch such as Thaltej crossroads to Drive-in, from Gurudwara to Sanand Chowkdi, ISCON circle, and the area in front of Hotel Grand Bhagwati are likely to attract the most hoardings.
Giving figures, officials of the AMC's estate department officials said that in terms of earnings per square metre from hoardings, CG road still earns the most for the civic body. It is the favourite of advertisers, an official said.
"CG road's commercial stretch has 26 hoardings, 185 kiosks (with electric lights) and four gantry-hoardings. These have been leased at Rs57,000 per sq metre per one year. The civic body thus earns Rs6.57 crore from hoardings on CG road alone," an official said.
The 80 hoardings planned on the above-mentioned stretch of SG highway will each be available at a minimum price of Rs37,000 per sq metre per one year. "If you compare the figures, the per square metre cost of hoardings on CG Road is still the highest," the Estate department official said.
Now, however, SG Highway has become the second biggest earner of revenue from hoardings after CG road.
