7 killed, 13 injured as bus rams into stationary bus in Tamil Nadu

The government bus, which had developed some technical snag, capsized after it was hit by the private bus at Kallamedu near Manaparai.

Seven persons were killed and 13 others injured when a private bus hit a stationary state-owned corporation bus in the district today, police said.
 
The government bus, which had developed some technical snag, capsized after it was hit by the private bus at Kallamedu near Manaparai, about 40km from here. The private bus then went out of control, hit a road median and capsized.
 
Four of the deceased were travelling in the government bus while the others in the private bus. The injured had been admitted to government hospital, police said.
 
One of the injured passengers said the government bus was parked without switching on the parking lights.
 
After the bus suffered the snag, twenty passengers had shifted to another bus and only seven passengers were in the bus when the mishap occurred.
 
The bus was on its way from Rayavellore to Tuticorin while the private bus was proceeding from Chennai to Madurai.
