65-year-old priest found beheaded in Uttar Pradesh

The decapitated body of a 65-year-old priest of a temple was found near Partapur bypass in Meerut, police said today.

Jagdish Giri, who was the mahant of Shiva Kuti mandir, was murdered late on Thursday when six persons barged into his room located inside the temple premises and beheaded him with a sword, police said.

Personal enmity could be the cause behind the murder as nothing has been found missing from the temple, they said.

One person, identified as Guru Bhai, has been arrested in this regard and six others taken into custody, they added.
