5 Naxals wanted in cases in Bihar, Jharkhand arrested in Varanasi

Those arrested had been involved in spreading Naxal propaganda, mostly through mobile phones.

Five Naxals hailing from Jharkhand were arrested in Lanka area in Varanasi today.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the five against whom several cases were pending in Bihar and their native state, superintendent of police (city) Vijay Bhushan said.

Those arrested had been involved in spreading Naxal propaganda, mostly through mobile phones, the SP said, adding that an SUV has also been recovered from them.

The five have been identified as Jairam Singh alias Nagendra Singh Yadav, Kamlesh Majhi, Rakesh Gupta (all from Palamu), Mahendra Prajapati and Ajit Kumar Singh (both from Latehar), the SP added.
