5 arrested with for possessing country-made revolvers in Andhra

Five persons, including a former Maoist, were arrested for alleged possession of arms, police said today.

Two country made revolvers were recovered from the possession of the accused, while they were frisked after being found behaving suspiciously, they said.

One of the accused has been identified as Munjala Kumaraswamy, 35, of Vilasagar village in Jammikunta mandal, who worked as Dalam member in the People's War Group till 1997 before surrendering to the police, police said.

The five men were planning to make easy money by extorting money from people after threatening them with the weapons, they said.
