39 fishermen abducted

Five armed Bangladeshi pirates have abducted about 39 fishermen on Sunday as they were fishing in Biharikhal.

Sources said that these pirates were armed and detained them “demanding huge ransom”. Though officials in Writers’ Buildings were not ready to confirm or to reject the reports, but KL Meena, SP, district,

South 24-Parganas, told DNA: “The armed pirates abducted three, we have already rescued two of them, but search is on for the missing one.’’

However, reports said district administration, police and coast guards deployed speedboats with armed personnel since Tuesday night to chase the pirates.
