33% quota for women to be reality: Ghulam Nabi Azad

The Union health and family welfare minister said, the bill was an 'epoch making' decision of UPA chairperson and AICC leader Sonia Gandhi, who had spearheaded the 33% quota for women.

The recently passed women's reservation bill would soon become a reality as it would also be passed in Lok Sabha, Union health and family welfare minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said here today.
  
"The Rajya Sabha has passed the bill and in the near future we will pass it in Lok Sabha. This is going to be a reality," Azad, also AICC general secretary, said while addressing Congress party workers at the PCC office here.
  
The bill, he said, was an "epoch making" decision of UPA chairperson and AICC leader Sonia Gandhi, who had spearheaded the 33% quota for women demand ever since she became party leader.
  
Azad lauded the `excellent' work of the Puducherry government headed by V Vaithilingam all these years and said both Puducherry and neigbouring Tamil nadu were at the top spot in implementing schemes in the health and education sectors as also various welfare schemes.
