It was a mere trip to a garba venue. But for three school children of HB Kapadia school, it wasn’t adventurous enough. And so they headed to Mumbai. But one of them backed out at the last moment. Their adventurous trip gave their worried parents a harrowing time. The panicked parents immediately informed the police, when the children failed to return from the garba event, organised by their school.

But police investigation found that two of them did not find Ahmedabad happening enough and hence went sightseeing in Mumbai.  “Three boys escaped from the garba venue and went to the railway station. One of them returned while the others managed to take a train to Mumbai,” a police source said.

The boys had gone to Amiraj Party plot on SG Highway, where the school had organised a garba programme. They are class IX students. Love alias Sonu (13) and Vatsal managed to take a train to Mumbai,  while Shubham returned from the Kalupur station at around 7:30pm. Shubham after returning from the station narrated the entire incident to his parents. The three boys, who had a few hundred rupees among them as pocket money, hired an autorickshaw from Amiraj Party plot and reached Kalupur station.

“When Shubham returned to his house he had no pocket money and the rickshaw fare was paid by his parents,” the source said. Shubham’s father, immediately called Vatsal’s father and informed him about the incident. The boys were traced with the help of Sonu’s mobile.

Sonu’s father, Mahendra Patel works in a submersible pump factory in Bapunagar. Sonu was carrying a mobile phone through which the family managed to contact the boys. The boys were traced to Borivilli in Mumbai. “They were told to wait at a shop and our relatives in Mumbai took their custody in the afternoon on Saturday,” a relative of the boys told DNA.
