Ayurveda is known to remove an illness completely from the body. Since ages, grandma's remedies have been irreplaceable in households.

In order to highlight these points, Ayurvedic doctors from all over the country and a few from outside India as well will participate in a three-day conference as well as a yatra, 'Ayurved Mahashranyatra', from December 16-18 at the Swaminarayan Gurukul Vishwavidya Pratishthanam (SGVP), Charodi.

Ayurvedic consultant and one of the key organisers of the event Dr Pravin Hirpara said, "This is the first time in the history of ayurveda and in Gujarat that such a large-scale conference is being conducted. There are three main objectives behind organising this conference. The first is to offer guru dakshina to the rishi munis who had written the seven granths (encyclopedia or books) of Ayurveda. We as doctors used these books for reference while studying. Students today too refer the same besides other books."

"The second objective is to highlight the importance of ayurveda to the general public at large. The third and most important objective is to persuade graduates of Ayurvedic medicine to practise in the same field," Hirpara said. According to SGVP coordinator Kanu Bhagat, these granths will be wrapped in gold and silver papers and cloth and carried on elephants in the December 18 yatra.

It will be followed by a maha yagya at Memnagar Swaminarayan Gurukul where 111kgs of different ayurvedic medicines will be used.
