Backing beleaguered A Raja, DMK leader Kanimozhi today said he has not been found guilty in connection with alleged irregularites in 2G spectrum allocation and had resigned as telecom minister merely to allow smooth functioning of Parliament.

"I do not think Raja has been found guilty. He has resigned from the post because the DMK wants Parliamnet to function," Kanimozhi told PTI.

The DMK MP said it was for the party leadership to decide on Raja's successor.

"That is for the party leaders to decide. They will make a decision," she said when asked whether the next telecom minister would be from the DMK.

"I do not know about it," was her reply to a query on whether she would be the next telecom minister.

Raja has submitted his resignation as telecom minister to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh late last night in the wake of furore over alleged irregularities in the 2G spectrum allocation which reportedly caused a Rs1.76 lakh crore loss to the exchequer.
