Kanimozhi, DMK MP and daughter of M Karunanidhi, arrested in connection with the second generation mobile telephony spectrum allocation case, will move the Delhi high court for bail, her lawyer said today.

Senior advocate Shanmugasundaram told reporters that the order of the special CBI court rejecting her bail plea will be challenged in the high court during the course of next week.

He cited the remarks of special CBI judge OP Saini appreciating the "dignified" conduct of Kanimozhi.

A day after her arrest, the DMK MP today looked calm and composed before the special court during the day-long proceedings.

She was escorted to the courtroom by women constables, and did not talk much while she sat next to her husband Aravindan during the hearing.

Kanimozhi, dressed in the same orange 'salwar-suit' which she wore yesterday, has been lodged in jail number 6 at Tihar.

Kanimozhi's minor son Adithyan, her mother Rajathi Ammal and other relatives met her when she appeared before special CBI judge OP Saini.

While she was being taken to the lock-up room, Rajathi Ammal, who was in tears, was asked to stay back.

Kanimozhi caressed Adithyan who, along with Aravindan, walked with her till the lock-up room.

The court had rejected the bail applications of Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar, MD and CEO of Kalaignar TV, saying the offence was grave and the possibility of witnesses being influenced cannot be ruled out.

The court, meanwhile, deferred to May 24 the orders on the bail plea of Asif Balwa and Rajiv Aggarwal, the directors of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Ltd.

Balwa and Aggarwal are accused of playing key roles in the transfer of Rs 200 crore bribe to Kalaignar TV through various firms promoted by Shahid Usman Balwa.

On that day, the court would also pronounce its order on the bail of Shahid Balwa.

Meanwhile, senior Reliance ADAG officials, Gautam Doshi and Hari Nair, sought a direction to jail authorities that they be taken for medical examination for using orthopedic mattresses inside.

Earlier, the court had allowed them to carry the mattresses but as per the jail rules, the accused are to be examined in a hospital.

The court said they can go to the hospital on any day for the medical examination.
