While tracking the kickbacks of 2G scam, the CBI is still probing Rs200 crore transactions to DMK’s Kalaignar TV.

The CBI has said that Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd, Cineyug Films, Green House Pvt Ltd and Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd are also under its scrutiny.

Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi’s daughter and DMK MP Kanimozhi, his wife Dayaluammal and Sharad Kumar, managing director of Kalaignar TV, have 20, 60 and 20% shares in the channel respectively.

The CBI has alleged the money connected with the 2G spectrum allocation had travelled from Balwa’s firm to Kalaignar TV through Cineyug Films and Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd.

Asif Balwa and Rajeev Agarwal, directors of Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd, were arrested on March 29. Agarwal was arrested for his alleged role in transferring Rs200 crore to Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd through the bank accounts of Cineyug Films Pvt Ltd.

In 2009 Cineyug gave Rs200 crore as advance towards the acquisition of stakes in Kalaignar TV but due to difference in valuation of the shares of two companies, amount of Rs200 crore received till August 2009, was converted as loan to DMK’s Kalaignar TV. Although the company claims to have paid back the amount with an interest of Rs31 crore to Cineyug.

The CBI has also claimed that an agreement dated December 19, 2008 was “purportedly executed between Cineyug films Pvt Ltd and Kalaignar TV Pvt Ltd which has not yet been made available by the two accused”.

“During interrogation, both accused are evasive about Rs200 transaction to Kalaignar TV. We have strong suspicion that this agreement could be forged and prepared on back date,” CBI official told DNA.

However, Asif Balwa has been sent to judicial custody, while Rajiv Aggarwal of Kusegaon Realty is still with the CBI to further interrogation.
