DB Realty director Vinod Goenka's plea seeking judicial documents in connection with the 2G spectrum case was today opposed in a Delhi court by CBI which said the request was "pre-mature".

Goenka, arrested in the case, has sought some vital documents, including the CFSL report on which he had signed and was being used by CBI for his prosecution.

He said he needed those documents for seeking expert opinion and for preparing his defence in the case.

"Since CBI has taken CFSL report on some signatures and is relying upon the same, the applicant (Goenka), to prepare the case, wants to take an expert opinion on the signatures for preparing his case/defence for taking an expert opinion requested that applicant may be permitted to call for his expert in court and take the photographs of the signatures of preparing a report," Goenka had said.

CBI, however, said Goenka's plea should be rejected at this stage as the case is yet to enter the stage of defence evidence.

"Goenka is yet to enter at the stage of defence evidence. During the course of examination of expert, he may cross examine him and put the suggestion that questioned signatures are not of his. In case, expert rejects his suggestions, only then the case of action for making such a prayer is available.
Application of Goenka is premature at this stage, therefore liable to be rejected," CBI said.

The court has put up the matter for further hearing on May 19.
