The Delhi High Court Tuesday decided to defer till January 5 its decision to examine on its own the trial court order granting bail to former Telecom Minister A Raja's Private Secretary RK Chandolia, after the Supreme Court put on hold its order against his bail.

Justice VK Shali, who had on December 2 taken suo-motu cognisance of the trial court order granting bail to Chandolia a day earlier and had stayed the same, decided to defer its proceeding on the issue after being told that his order had been stayed by the apex court.

Chandolia's counsel Majid Memon told Justice Shali that the apex court has stayed his December 2 order on a plea by his client challenging it.

While adjourning its suo-motu examination of grant of bail to Chandolia by the trial court on December 1, Justice Shali, however, clarified that the Supreme Court's order will have no bearing on the bail plea of former Telecom Secretary Siddharth Behura.

Justice Shali had earlier reserved his order on Behura's bail plea after hearing of arguments by the CBI and the counsel for former telecom secretary.
