26 injured in acid attack in North Tripura district

Twenty-six persons were injured when a jeweller threw acid at a crowd of hawkers at Kailashar town in North Tripura district, police said today.

The jeweller, who had an altercation with a vendor for selling vegetables in front of his shop last evening, suddenly threw acid bottles when the vendor gathered other friends to protest.

At least 26 persons were injured in the acid attack, five of them critically, police said.

The critically injured were admitted to Kailashahar hospital.
