Another 24 people tested positive for dengue since yesterday, taking the total count of patients afflicted by the disease to 526, MCD said today and denied it was under-reporting the number.

The national capital recorded its highest number of dengue cases yesterday after 24 people tested positive for the disease.
"In the last one day, 23 people people were diagnosed with dengue fever. Hospitals are now reporting more and more cases. The total number of people who have reported with dengue fever in different hospitals till now is 526", VK Monga, MCD health committee chairman, said.

"Since October is the month when dengue cases are more prevalent, an average of more than ten cases are being reported daily," he said. The first case of dengue fever was reported this year in the month of March.

However, Monga said "this is less in comparison to the dengue cases reported during this period last year. Over 5,000 cases were reported during this time." Four deaths due to dengue haemorrhagic fever have been reported in the city so far, the last being on October 13. "We have never underreported dengue cases and have always been transparent about it. This report of 526 cases is the one that is reported from hospitals," he said.
